about

Jay Decay was a friend of mine. Good friend or bad friend we were close.
He introduced me to Four Track recorders as they became available to the public circa '86-87. Also Drum Machines.....Dr. Rhythm was a favorite because you could hold it in one hand and the mic in the other and stop, start, or play the pads live. Also cheap. Got ours as folks threw theirs out because they thought they were useless and un-natural and mostly used just for practicing.Yes, pre-MIDI.

One hot summer day on the corner of Williams and Ives as I approached the liquor store. A voice came from the laundromat across the street: "So you like punk, Huh?" I look up to see a six foot somthin' gangly bitch with a double Mohawk, upside-down cross spray-painted jeans with a rusty meat cleaver tied to it. Army boots untied with Roofing nails put threw the eyelets facing out and of coarse a safety pin in his face. I knew at once I had to befriend it or take it on in a full territorial "at all cost battle" for domination .

Well for better or worse we hung out threw some of my craziest party days and his actual drug addiction witch was famous and he made it well known as well. But we made crazy music by the boat load. Of coarse my life was not one of stability until now so I lost everything serval times including, what seemed un important at the time, the music. "Starvation", "Lassie's on Coke", "Power line" lost to the ages..........Till now.

Stumbled upon this...."S.I.K. F.V.K. Exhumed". I recognize most of the songs but haven't the faintest what their names are. He must have done this one on his own even though I hear snippets of Chicken Chuck in some tracks but it's real testimony of a genius lost to drugs. Awesome production for four tracks. A snapshot of time when we were wasted all the time, had no money, no were to live, and MAD street cred.

I don't know what happened to Jay. Last I heard he was following an Ex. to Tempi Arizona after accidentally burning down his apartment while smoking crack. but all searches on the internet are dead ends. I hope he is well. If you have any "S.I.K. F.V.K, Uclid Gilparitacle, or Road Face" recordings please let me know. This is lost ART found!
